SCRIP CARDS ARE PURCHASED AND OPERATE LIKE CASH. Scrip cards are available through a national provider and are available for hundreds of local, national, and online retailers. Grocery Stores, Gas Stations, Restaurants and Retailers are included on the diverse list of Scrip participants. The value of scrip is that the school purchases gift cards at a discount and sells them to you at face value. The difference is kept by the school to use for various programs. For example, a family buying a $100 scrip card to a grocery store will receive a $100 value in the form of a gift card. The grocery store sells the gift card to the school for $95. The school keeps the $5. The percentage varies by retailers ranging anywhere from 1% to 13%.

An important element of the Scrip program is it does not require any additional purchases outside your existing family budget. In fact, the Scrip program can assist families to further budget monthly expenditures; assigning set spending to categories such as food, gas, dining and clothing.

NEW THIS YEAR: Scrip donations may be tax deductible. In the grocery store example above, the $5 that the school keeps can be deductible to you at tax time. Just fill out the SCRIP agreement below and return it to the school. Read SCRIP Changes for more detailed information.
