| Maestro De Astis :: Spanish
The son of diplomats, Mr. J.C. De Astis grew up in Mexico, United States, Italy, Venezuela, Tunisia and Australia and, as a teenager, he attended schools in Florence and Rome, obtaining a liberal arts education and exposure to the best of Western art, culture and architectural history. As a result of his travels and experiences with diverse cultures, he is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian and French. He graduated Cum Laude from Tufts University in Boston with a degree in International Relations and is also a Certified Microsoft Professional with expert level skills in MS Windows OS and Office and is currently learning Linux. In 2001, under the name Giancarlo De Astis, Mr. De Astis began designing and building hand crafted furniture using parts of old airplanes. Today, in addition to his furniture business, Mr. De Astis teaches Spanish to students at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School and Kearns St. Ann School. In his spare time he provides interpreting services in three languages to major health care organizations, state health services, clinics and doctors’ offices throughout Salt Lake City.
