| Our
Lady of Lourdes offers numerous extracurricular and
co-curricular activities and events throughout the
year, including sports, academic fairs and competitions,
leadership programs, yearbook, dances, afterschool
activities and service projects.
Lourdes students participate inPARA league basketballand
volleyball for both boys and girls in grades 4-8.
Our Lady of Lourdes also offers a 6 week ski and snowboard
program on Friday afternoons for students age 8 and
up.
Every year the Home and School Association hosts
a Reading and Writing Fair
and a Math and Science Night
for all students and their parents with wonderful
activities that allow students to show off their talents
and have a great time doing it.
Every other year, middle school students put on a
History Fair. They take on the persona of an historical
figure, dress in period costumes and stay in character
throughout the night. The students prepare multi-media
presentations about their character and time and,
staying in character, answer questions about themselves
and what their life is like.
Our Lady of Lourdes also participates in MATHCOUNTS®
a national math enrichment, coaching and competition
program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement.
MATHCOUNTS challenges students' math skills, develops
their self-confidence and rewards them for their achievements.
Our Lady of Lourdes also hosts Girl Scouts, beginning
in first grade, where girls can develop qualities
that will serve them all their lives; qualities such
as leadership, strong values, social conscience, and
conviction about their own potential and self-worth.
Students are also afforded the opportunity to develop
their leadership skills through activities such as
Student Council, Family Groups and Yearbook. Those
on student council take the lead in developing and
implementing service projects and school betterment
projects for their own classes as well as for the
entire school. In Family Groups, eighth grade students
head a “family” of students, typically
one student from each grade. The family groups gather
once a month to do a fun and worthwhile activity as
a group. Yearbook is another activity that lets students
explore their talents, creativity and technical skills
in writing, editing, photography, art and layout.
Middle school students enjoy numerous other activities
designed just for them including dances with the other
Catholic Schools, special retreats and a year end
field day.
Through our Extended Day Program, students of all
ages can participate in a number of enriching afterschool
activities without ever leaving the school. These
include Chess, Dance, Yoga, Karate and Piano lessons.
Service to others is an integral part of Catholic
School education. At Our Lady of Lourdes everyone
in the school participates in numerous different projects
and efforts throughout the year where they give their
time, their talents and their treasures to those in
need.
