Penny Wars: Thank you to everyone who participated. The Penny Wars were a great
success. The 8th
graders will bring a check for $300.00 to their Mass today for Good Samaritan,
we bought $450.00 in phone cards to send to the soldiers overseas, the students
had ice cream Sundaes yesterday, and the rest of the money collected will go to
the Heifer Project which ends on Friday.
The class with the highest total after the tally is 7th grade
with $382.97. They will be treated
to a pizza party for lunch on February 6th. The second place class was 6th
grade with $203.22 and in third place was the 3rd grade with $163.54
(excellent for only 12 students since two of them were out last week!).
Catholic Schools Week: Tomorrow is the faculty vs. 8th grade dodgeball game at 2:00. It will be held in the Judge gym. On Friday we will have a first semester Honors Award Ceremony and Volunteer coffee in the OLOL gym at 8:05. All school volunteers are invited for “coffee and treats” (adults only) as a thank you for your service to our students. Please notify the office if you plan to attend so we have enough refreshments.
Testimonials:
Thank you to everyone who submitted
testimonials for our website.
Chuck Krivanek has been working on updating it. If you have problems with it or see
something that is incorrect, please e-mail the office so we can correct it.
Thank you to Volunteers: On Friday, January 30th we would like to recognize all our volunteers. We will be having coffee and treats (for adults only) at 8:05 (during the Honors Awards) and would like everyone who has volunteered in any capacity this year (beginning with the painting project) and can attend to do so. Please send a quick e-mail to the office if you are coming so we can have enough refreshments.
Leprechaun Lope: The Leprechaun Lope, our next big fundraiser, is scheduled for March 14th. Rick Estrada is organizing this event. Anyone
interested in helping him to make this a success can e-mail LeprechaunLope08@yahoo.com to volunteer. This is a good way to complete your
VIP hours.
Science Fair: This year’s school Science Fair will be held on Thursday, February 5th from 7:00 – 8:00 in the Parish Social Hall. Ms King, the 7th & 8th grade Science teacher at Judge, is organizing the fair. 7th & 8th grade projects will be judged and the winners will be entered in the Diocesan Science Fair. K – 6th grade students are invited to participate as well and teachers will be organizing projects. Ms King has asked for the following help from parents: set up / tear down, emcee, basic crowd control, creating and distributing programs, food set-up and put away and monitoring, certificate “filler-inners” (to complete certificates that night as category “winners” are chosen). In addition, she is asking each class to provide refreshments: Grades 1 & 2 – beverages, Grades 3 & 4 – savory appetizers, Grades 5 & 6 – fruit / veggie trays, and Grades 7 & 8 – sugary treats. If you can be of help in any of the above areas, please contact Ms King by e-mail aking@judgememorial.com and CC the school office. By working together, we can make this a great event for the students!
Picture Day: On February 11th we will be taking Spring pictures. The students can dress up in their own clothes for these pictures. Everyone will have their picture taken and the packages will be sent home when they arrive. No advance money is needed. When you receive the picture packet, decide which pictures you want (if any) and return the money with any unwanted pictures.
Graduation Pictures: Graduation pictures will also be taken on February 11th. 8th graders will wear their graduation gowns and all will have their picture taken. The packets will work the same way as the Spring pictures – pay only for what you keep. A composite class picture will be provided for each diploma case.
Parent/Teacher Conferences: This session of conferences will be scheduled by the
teachers. If your child’s teacher
needs to meet with you, you will receive a sign up sheet (check your e-mail)
and these conferences will be scheduled first. Anyone not receiving one should contact the teacher by
e-mail to set up a conference. The
conference date is February 26th which will be a 12:30
dismissal. This is also conference
day for Judge Memorial HS.
