January 21. 2009
January’ Tag Day:
January’s tag day (which is a
patriotic tag day) has been changed to Wednesday, January 28th to
coincide with the Catholic Schools Week theme of celebrating service in our
nation.
8th Grade Mass at the Cathedral: On Wednesday, January 28th all the 8th graders in the Diocese will be attending Mass with the Bishop at the Cathedral. Our 8th graders will be representing our school and are expected to dress in their best uniforms. Please be sure to be neat and clean. Girls are asked to wear skirts if they have them. Shirts are to be the polos with logos (if you have them). Students wearing the oxford shirts are to be sure they are ironed and all shirts are to be tucked in. Students who have the school sweater vests should wear them as they make the uniform look neater. Please wear dress shoes rather than sneakers or boots. Hair should be washed and combed neatly (cut if necessary). The 8th graders will have their patriotic tag day ($1.00) on Friday instead.
Penny Wars: Penny wars to benefit Good Samaritan and our
soldiers overseas began yesterday.
Send in those unwanted pennies and other coins for this worthy cause.
Catholic Schools Week: Click here for the calendar of events. Please keep it handy. Remember to attend the opening Mass (4th grade will be doing the readings) on Sunday, January 25th and tell your friends about our Open House after Mass from 12:00 – 3:00.
Testimonials:
We are updating our website and
would like to include testimonials from current and past parents. If you would like to share your good
experiences and feelings about Our Lady of Lourdes School with others and help
promote our school, send an e-mail to: slcnotebooms@msn.com.
If you know of past parents, please
pass this message on to them as well.
Thank you to Volunteers: On Friday, January 30th we would like to recognize all our volunteers. We will be having coffee and treats (for adults only) at 8:05 (during the Honors Awards) and would like everyone who has volunteered in any capacity this year (beginning with the painting project) and can attend to do so. Please send a quick e-mail to the office if you are coming so we can have enough refreshments.
Leprechaun Lope: The Leprechaun Lope, our next big fundraiser, is scheduled for March 14th. Rick Estrada is organizing this event. Anyone
interested in helping him to make this a success can e-mail LeprechaunLope08@yahoo.com to volunteer. This is a good way to complete your VIP
hours.
Science Fair: This year’s school Science Fair will be held on Thursday, February 5th from 7:00 – 8:00 in the Parish Social Hall. Ms King, the 7th & 8th grade Science teacher at Judge, is organizing the fair. 7th & 8th grade projects will be judged and the winners will be entered in the Diocesan Science Fair. K – 6th grade students are invited to participate as well and teachers will be organizing projects. Ms King has asked for the following help from parents: set up / tear down, emcee, basic crowd control, creating and distributing programs, food set-up and put away and monitoring, certificate “filler-inners” (to complete certificates that night as category “winners” are chosen). In addition, she is asking each class to provide refreshments: Grades 1 & 2 – beverages, Grades 3 & 4 – savory appetizers, Grades 5 & 6 – fruit / veggie trays, and Grades 7 & 8 – sugary treats. If you can be of help in any of the above areas, please contact Ms King by e-mail aking@judgememorial.com and CC the school office. By working together, we can make this a great event for the students!
Lunch Orders for February: Click here to download, print and complete the attached lunch order form
for February and send them in to the office (with payment) before Wednesday, January 28th.
Used Ink Cartridges: The first ink cartridges were sent for refund and we
should be receiving about $50.00.
The company only takes ink cartridges that fit in the palm of your
hand. We can no longer send in the
large ones. Ask your friends and
families to collect them for you.
